Interior Design-Listed Cottage, Shotley Bridge

The Brief

We were recommended to Paul who had just bought Grade 2 listed cottage in County Durham and needed help with interior design for two rooms and styling for the whole house.

The main two rooms to be focused on were the lounge and the Master bedroom. Paul wanted to inject a bit of luxury and a ‘wow factor.’

In the lounge Paul had already commissioned a bespoke media unit and ordered a large sofa so we ordered a matching armchair to compliment the sofa. The space also needed a coffee table so we found a lovely old trunk in amongst Paul’s things and had it painted to use as a coffee table. The room was accessorised with cushions, lighting, candles, accessories, and some of Paul’s favourite artwork.

The Master suite was already decorated and had some existing furniture which didn’t suit the period of the property. To create a more luxurious feel we persuaded Paul to change the furniture. We sourced a winged headboard bed, new drawers, side tables, a chaise and two large mirrors. We added extra touches with White company bedding, cushions, throw, lighting, and accessories.

We added styling to the remaining rooms with lighting, candles diffusers, flowers, and decorative touches. We even sourced the tiles for the two bathrooms.

We really enjoyed working with Paul to make his house a home.

What the client says

'I was introduced to Willow & Maine by my decorator. I had just moved into a new property and needed a bit of assistance with the interior design. Willow & Maine helped me design my main two rooms, they helped pick and order furniture. They sourced all the accessories and dressed the rooms. They also styled the other rooms in the house. I am really pleased with the result and would happily recommend them.'
